INDIA BIODIVERSITY AWARDS – 2018
Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in association with UNDP India had initiated the India Biodiversity Awards in 2012 during India’s Presidency of the Eleventh Meeting of Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to encourage the splendid efforts of individuals, communities, organizations and institutions in the area of biodiversity conservation, sustainable use, access and benefit sharing and biodiversity governance.
The Fourth India Biodiversity Awards-2018 was launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa on May 22, 2017 on the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity. The nomination forms have been uploaded on the website of National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) and UNDP India. Applications are being solicited under four categories :-
a. Conservation of wild species
b. Conservation of domesticated species
2. Sustainable use of biological resources
3. Replicable mechanisms for access and benefit sharing
4. Best Biodiversity Management Committees
The Award comprises of a cash prize, a memento, and a citation under each category which will be presented to the winners at the India Biodiversity Awards ceremony to be held on 22nd May, 2018.
Interest individuals, institutions etc. are advised to submit their applications at firstname.lastname@example.org latest by midnight on November 30, 2017.
